There is direct support for the Windows Xbox Controller (Not the same as an Xbox controller, although you can use hacks to allow use of a regular Xbox controller on the computer). I am not aware whether or not there are native support for other controllers; but you could easily set up a profile to ue it with Skyrim.

You just throw your wired controller into your PC via USB. You can do that with any game that can be played with a controller. I prefer keyboard and mouse though ONLY because of so many hotkeys. Controller gets left and right on the d-pad, keyboard gets like, 1-8.

Just plug it in and enable it in the Game Options. If you find anything iffy with it, just download the "Xbox 360 controller For Windows" driver. What you do is, remove the controller, install the driver and then plug it in. It'll work flawlessly.
