Note: it will not work without that edit. Put the edited cyan.py in your portable Gimp plugins folder. 3. Cyan.exe works as a stand-alone application. Open your CMYK image and convert to RGB for Gimp.

Nov 08, 2019 · As you found Gimp does not support cyan-magenta-yellow-black (cmyk) colour space. Gimp is a red-green-blue (RGB) bitmap editor. Apart from that, support for PS .psd files is very limited. As a suggestion, open the image in the free application Krita see: www.krita.org. That also has limited support for PS layers, depends on the .psd image

Jun 12, 2015 · Unlike built in CMYK support that you have with PS, GIMP doesn't directly support embedded CMYK. There was talks about doing so many years ago, but it was decided that RGB was good enough. You can decompose your image to CMYK channels, but that's as far as you can get with the GIMP.

The short answer in no. Gimp, Inkscape, Imagemagik and others do not natively support CMYK. These programs have RGB to CMYK converters which is fine for images but that's it. When designing for print, starting in the CMYK colorspace is a must.
